A few months ago, I told you about the Common Core and More (CoCoMo) Institute. Thank
you for your overwhelming response from across the Consortium!
I am happy to report
that the institute is taking place from June 11-15, 2012 in Santa Fe, New
Mexico. More than 85 educators from 14 Consortium
states are hard at work learning about the Common
Core State Standards and WIDA’s English
Language Development (ELD) Standards.
Those representing schools with Spanish bilingual or dual language programs are also working with the new Spanish Language Development (SLD) Standards. Dr. Margo Gottlieb is the lead presenter for the week. Participants are using her book Common Language Assessment for English Language Learners (Solution Tree, 2012). By the end of the week, participants will create cross walks between content standards, including Common Core and language standards (ELD and SLD). Check out the rest of the CoCoMo photos here and here and their tweets here.

The CoCoMo Institute is a collaborative effort between the Illinois Resource Center and the WIDA
Consortium. For forty years, the
Illinois Resource Center (IRC) staff has provided technical assistance and
professional development to teachers and administrators serving English
language learners in Illinois and across the nation. The IRC is
located in Arlington Heights, a suburb of Chicago.
